PROJECT
Integrated processes of agricultural waste valorization along the entire value chain
Topic: WASTE-7-2015. Ensuring sustainable use of agricultural waste, co-products and by-products
DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT
A research team from a Greek Research Centre along with a Greek company is preparing a project proposal for H2020-WASTE-7-2015 on the optimized integration of processes for the cost-effective and sustainable valorization of agricultural waste and byproducts with the development of waste type-specific schemes. They are looking for SMEs from EU and China for the pretreatment/transportation of wastes, conversion of biomass to biochar and bioenergy, biochar application and bioenergy integration. OBJECTIVES
A research team from a Greek Research Centre along with a Greek company is preparing a project proposal for H2020-WASTE-7-2015 on the optimized integration of processes for the cost-effective and sustainable valorization of agricultural waste and byproducts with the development of waste type-specific schemes. The project aims to (1) the collection / pretreatment / transportation of wastes, (2) conversion of biomass to biochar and bioenergy, (3) post-treatment and application of biochar for the improvement of crop productivity, and remediation of contaminated soil and water, and (4) integration of bioenergy within the cycle of waste valorization.

Farmer groups/associations/enterprises for the collection, pre-treatment and transportation of plant or animal wastes produced at high quantities
Industries for the collection, pre-treatment, transportation of byproducts/wastes of crop treatment processes
SMEs/industries for the process numerical simulation, optimization and design and the waste pre-processing and testing of recycled wastes in existing pyrolysis / gasification units
An SME for the management of dissemination and exploitation of results
