Title: European Remembrance Description of the Project: A European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (EGTC) is an opportunity for the municipalities of the European Union to achieve their joint objectives through cross-border cooperation. Members of the MURABA EGTC are the Municipality of Szentgotthárd (Hungary), the Municipality of Lendava (Slovenia), the Mura Region Hungarian National Self-Government Community (in Slovenia) and the National Slovene Self-Government (in Hungary). Through this project, the MURABA EGTC wants to commemorate martyrs who were victims of totalitarian regimes of the 20th century and develop tools that help interpret their martyrdom in the 21th century. The project also looks into the life of frontier zones during the cold war, towns or regions separated from its foreign neighbours as well as from the rest of its own country – and analyses the effects of this special closeness to the people’s mindset and to the martyrdom itself. Through different activities such as research, conference, youth exchange and exhibition they look into their life trying to understand the values they suffered for, the system of totalitarian regimes that allowed these crimes and its implication on people’s mind in the past and present. The project looks into the topic from perspectives of various disciplines and generations with an emphasis of the youth. The project will develop a methodology handbook and an exhibition which offer contemporary methods of forward-looking remembrance. Partner Sought: They welcome partners with strong youth profile / research organisation interested to contribute in one or more of the following activities: - Research and interdisciplinary forum about the above topics (partners to participate in the research and / or delegate speakers, participants to the forum) autumn 2020 to spring 2021, home based research, forum in Slovenia; - Youth exchange (delegate youth group; participate with youth coordinator in its preparatory meeting) -summer 2021, Hungary; - Planning and creating an exhibition (delegate participants who are interested / experienced in creating the exhibition) – Hungary/TBD – autumn 2021; - Travelling exhibition (hosting exhibition) – winter 2021/spring 2022
