Title: “Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark and Geological Survey Northern Ireland”
Description of the project: We are seeking three geopark partners (plus 3 associated education partners) along with the Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark and Geological Survey Northern Ireland to deliver a knowledge sharing and information exchange programme for tourism providers located within geoparks.
Participants for this programme are tourism businesses located within the partner geoparks.
Providers located within geoparks often struggle to understand the benefit of the UNESCO geopark designation. Some embrace the designation and use it to their business advantage whilst others are still to be convinced of the benefits of their business being located within a geopark.
This project provides opportunities for tourism providers from across 4 geoparks to come together to exchange knowledge and experience in operating a tourism business within a geopark.
Each geopark adheres to a validation process where areas of weakness are highlighted. This programme would aim to dovetail into this validation and provide opportunity to address possible and appropriate weaknesses.
