Country: Ukraine
DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT
The recent research on comparison of level of high school education in natural sciences in the world (TIMSS-2011, PISA 2012) reveals that European students level is lower than the one of the developed Far-East countries (e.g. Singapore, South Korea, Japan). In order to increase European competitiveness it is crucial to make efforts to enhance education effectiveness and to decrease this gap. Therefore, the aim of this proposal is to develop a novel intelligent computer-aided training system in physics for European pupils, students, and tutors which will provide individual and adaptive approach to the trainee through the application of robust learning and micro-learning technologies.
Similar tools currently available at the market (The Andes Physics Tutor, Virtual Amrita Laboratories, PhysCoD, etc.) has some shortcomings and limitations, primarily related to adaptiveness to the specific trainee skills and considering current performance level.
Key innovations of the proposed system will be: application of diagnostic models (DMs) linking indirect mistake indicators with the direct ones, including the ones generated by the DM; application of DMs that are added easily in the frame of interpreted and compiled architecture; automatically-built full (in the context of knowledge and skills) model of a student based on the Bayesian networks and diagnostic models; application of methods and models of automatic task generation; automatic and adaptive selection of the next programme task depending on the specific trainee’s abilities.
