PRESENTATION OF THE ASSOCIATION Africa e Mediterraneo is a non-profit organisation created to promote intercultural awareness, especially betweenItalyandAfrica, and to conduct development education. With its constitution officially formalised in 2002, since 1997Africae Mediterraneo has brought together a group of professionals committed to the task of promoting contemporary African artists and intellectuals. Africa e Mediterraneo pursues its goals by regularly publishing the biennual journalAfricae Mediterraneo, and by organising initiatives such as intercultural workshops (in both school and out-of-school contexts), exhibitions, conferences, training courses for teachers and other activities linked to cultural and intercultural education.Africae Mediterraneo is concluding the successful project named “Comics for Equality”. Co-funded from 2012 by European Union, ComiX4= is a transnational project involving in particular new entrant countries from Eastern Europe (Estonia,Latvia,BulgariaandRomania). Through comics, web and social networks and thanks to the direct involvement of those who personally lived migration stories, the project aims to develop and disseminate new tools and methodologies to enhance intercultural dialog, within a society based on the respect of fundamental rights, fighting racism and discrimination. Comix4= won the Intercultural Innovation Award 2014 with other 10 international projects, as the only Italian project among more than 600 sent applications. The activities carried out byAfricae Mediterraneo include: 1 – the organisation of intercultural projects and development education, including at the international level; 2 – the organisation of projects promoting cultural cooperation and respect for human rights; 3 – the organisation of exhibitions on African cultural expression; 4 – the redaction of the biennual journalAfricae Mediterraneo; 5 – the organisation of training courses and conferences for teachers. DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT Cross-cutting activities Project Management and Coordination Dissemination and Communication Plan: website of the project and social media Monitoring and Evaluation OBJECTIVES General Objective: To raise awareness and improve knowledge about the rules on free movement and on civic and political rights of EU citizens living inItaly,France,Spain, Bulgaria etc. Specific Objective: To increase the quality and the usability of the sources of information addressed to EU citizens living in another Union country about free movement and on civic and political rights through illustrated toolkits with comics and videos, with a special attention to disadvantaged groups.
